Life goes by too quickly

So yesterday was the semi-state game for high school baseball. Seth did great in the first game. They played Indy Cathedral and pulled out the win. It was an exciting game and Seth pitched for most of it. The second game started at 8 and it was against Decatur. In between the games we watched the news to see what they would play since there were 3 stations that filmed the whole thing. As suspected they showed the highlights and one station even interviewed Seth. I can't remember which one it was that interviewed the coach, who is an asshole, and made a snide comment about an error that Seth supposedly caused...I still don't know what he was talking about being an error. Needless to say the second game didn't go so well. Both Bill and I had a feeling coach wouldn't let Seth play, since he so publicly was disgusted with him causing an error. Our fears were for good reason-Seth didn't get to play any of his final high school baseball game. Harrison didn't win either, they lost by one point. He actually did get up to bat at one point, but someone else caused the final out of the inning, squashing his bat time. It was pitiful to watch Seth shake his head and walk to the dug-out. What kind of a coach would do that to a senior? What if after every time coach messed up he couldn't coach in the next game? It would be different if Seth was just an average player, but the boy pitched a fair share of games all season and was an outstanding batter. He was very upset last night, not so much at not getting to play (I don't think he realizes what really happened or that coach said he made an error-he believes he didn't get to play due to pitching earlier and having a sore arm) as to having his baseball career come to an end. He is attending Indiana University in August and is unsure of whether or not he will play baseball for them. The boy loves baseball and has played his whole life. I think he is having a hard time with moving into the next phase of his life. And I surely don't know where time went, it seems like only yesterday he was at Plaza Park Middle School. It really makes me feel so old, it has only been 8 years since I graduated but it doesn't feel like it. It definitely makes me have BOTB--baby on the brain, I can't imagine having a house with no kids, and I ain't getting any younger.
